"Can I have some butter with my ketchup?"

Suzanne is a ketchup and butter addict. Tonight at dinner she asked us if she could have butter with her ketchup. YUCK!

We've had an interesting weekend. We were able to attend the temple Friday night (thanks to Megan Wilcken), for the first time in six months. We did sealings. The spirit of the temple is so powerful, especially after not attending for several months. On another level, it was a funny temple experience. I thought the temple working checking my recommend was asking for my cell phone number. In reality, he was trying to tell me to turn off the cell phone I may possess. Then we couldn't find our way to the sealing rooms. We had to be directed by an older woman who was watching us "be" lost.

On Saturday, we attended the funeral of one of Ryan's high school friends. It was hard. My heart still hurts when I think of her little girl asking her father, "Where's mommy? I want mommy." She struggled with severe depression and choose to take her own life.

We had a little time at Dean and Angeli's house. And had tons of fun at Bert and Julie's house in Odgen. We played the Wii with them. We haven't seen them for a couple years. There was one point when all four of us were talking trying to get in all the conversations we had missed during that time.

It's been a weekend of reflection on relationships, self-awareness, and spiritual development. Gratefully, I can see how well we are doing. Undoubtedly the Lord is blessing us. We've been trying to be better at constantly maintaining the spirit in our home. So, we've been having a morning devotional and reading family scriptures and having family prayers in the evening. In the morning we sing a primary song and say a small proverb the kids can memorize. This is our third week, and it seems to be helping. We've memorized the proverbs: "Look before you leap;" "First think, then speak;" and this week, "Waste not, want not." It's been fun.

Luke went to the doctor on Friday for his 5 year old well-check and kindergarten shots. It's weird to think Luke is getting old enough to go to school this fall. I'm excited for him. I think he will do really well. He is also starting soccer in a couple weeks. That'll been fun. Especially since he reminded us last fall that we "forgot" to sign him up. It's neat to see them grow and become more independent.

  1. Man, Luke is going to Kindergarten soon? That means Evelyn is right behind him. That is hard to believe!

  2. Hi Bridget! I love the new layout! I can't believe that Luke is almost old enough to go to school. Time flies by way too fast when you are having fun! Hope you all are doing well! See you soon!

  3. Matt and I did sealings a couple weeks ago, and oh how I wish you'd have been there for the "sealing nazi". LOL She was the little woman and the desk and boy was she uptight. We haven't done sealings since there was a new temple president and so things are a little different now. Apparently you're supposed to wait in that big room with the pictures to be summoned by a sealer. We got dressed and took off out of the room and got this, "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!?!?! Go back in there and wait a few minutes." Then when the old boy finally did come get us, she yelled (as much as one can at the temple) to him, "WHAT ROOM ARE YOU GOING TO?" He totally ignored her. Oh, did we have a case of the giggles. Glad you are doing well, and I see from the new interface that Ryan is going to Utah State. *wink*
