So, it turns out that the girls who did the hearing test on Suzanne had me totally weirded out for nothing--at least nothing new. (Not that I'm not really good at getting excited about things on my own.) One of her tubes is falling out and the other has already fallen out. More liquid has formed behind her ears inhibiting her hearing. No surprise. The doctor we saw today said she is likely to have tubes for some time; she still seems to be struggling with Eustachian tube dysfunction. We'll be reviewing her ears in the fall expecting the simple surgery of tube placement once again.
Luke, however, proved to be a surprise. Our pediatrician, Dr. Armstrong--whom I love--suggested I have his tonsils looked at by an ENT DR as well. It turns out he has size 3 tonsils. (At first, I thought he said he had 3 tonsils--not so much.) That translates into SUPER HUGE tonsils for a child. So, he is having surgery next Tuesday. They will be removing his tonsils, adenoids and place ear tubes. He has been unable to recover from an ear infection he has had since January. Next Tuesday will be an exciting day. We'll see how it goes especially since he's a 'dunker' i.e. he loves having his head underwater.
OH! and Dr Wood said I could watch the surgery on TV-I told him my sister would come from Wyoming to watch that, but that I might have to pass. Too funny! He was an awesome DR.
I am laughing SO hard. You are right I would love to watch that being done. It also makes me wonder what size my tonsils are- my are also super huge. The dr asked mom if she wanted to get mine removed but she didnt do it at the time. - infact when I get a sore throat I can feel them touch.
ReplyDeleteGood to know that Suzie is not deaf. Has Luke had tubes before?
Good luck on Tuesday!
Whooee, good luck Luke! Time to stock up on pudding and yogurt. Let me know if you need help, Bridget.
