Sheffers.
We were planning on heading to the Big-O-Sheffer (alternative name provided by Bridget) reunion this weekend. After taking a gander at finances, location, the car selling process AND considering traveling 8 hours with 3 children within a 24 hour period. . .we're not going to go. To everyone who is going, "Have Fun!" We're sure it'll be a good time.
Suzi.
With the increase in her vocabulary, she is increasing in her shocking, yet hilarious comments. Oh! The black-and-white world of a 2 year-old. She told RYAN yesterday, "You are driving like a woman."
I asked her, "Where did you learn that?"
Luke replied, "Oh, we were just talking about driving." His tone was, we should be obvious experts in the field. To further the irony, Ryan WASN'T driving. He waiting in a parked car.
On Monday, for Family Home Evening, we took them to the park and played in a stream. Suzanne ran to me, "I'm poopy." This is what she says when she needs to go to the bathroom. She and I ran to the nearest bathroom. While we were in the bathroom, she said emphatically, "Boys ARE NOT girls!" Then she said, "For Halloween, I'm going to be a MONSTER! And you're gonna scream like a little girl!"
School.
Luke starts school on August 20th. I'm excited for him. He's excited for himself. I have him enrolled in a charter school called Thomas Edison Charter School. They "skip" the kindergarten curriculum. After talking the the principle, he explained children will rise to the expectations they are provided. As a result, they feel like "circle time" is a waste of time. Mr. Budge, the principle, chatted with Luke, observed him and felt he was completely ready to start. I'm excited.
I'm also excited they have a dress code i.e. a "business casual" uniform. It is awesome! I wrote a paper in high school about why uniforms are valuable in an educational setting. Even though that has been nearly 15 years ago, I still remember the important aspects of uniforms.
The school is awesome, and I am excited to see Luke challenged and engaged.
I want suzi to come live with me. She seems so funny. I crack up each time i hear anything she says. Congrads to Luke. So is this school free? I've often wondered about the kindergarten curriculum. It just seems like kids are much more capable then what we allow them to be. How exciting! so what are the pros for a 5 year old to wear a uniform?
