Chuckling at Children

  • "Grandma got ran over by a Reindeer" is Suzanne's new favorite song! She's always asking to watch videos of the song on YouTube.
  • Luke asked me for vitamins because his eyes were feeling squishy.
  • Suzanne opened her Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa Sheffer early. She was perplexed when she could not find it one evening. I told her Santa Claus came and got it. He'll be returning it on Christmas day. This morning Alisa dropped by a Christmas gift. We told her she couldn't open it yet. "That's right," she reminded us, "or Santa will come and get it."
  • Eric took 6 consecutive steps today with prefect balance!
  • Suzanne had not been sleeping through the night. Angeli gave us a book which suggested using an agency empowerment strategy. For example, if the child is not sleeping, the parent asks the child what the parent can do to help the child stay in bed at night instead of coming to the parents' bedroom. In the book they gave examples of children formulating plans with the aid of their parents to keep them in bed. I thought I would try it. I asked Suzanne the exact same question. She thought for a moment and said, "Nothing."
  • As Eric's been practicing his walking, he has also been randomly doing somersaults. Tonight I've watched him do 3 flips.

  1. I like these post. its gotta be the best part of your day. I was wondering if suzi is still not sleeping through the night. A friend of mine is struggling with his 4 year old daughter coming in late every night for a different reason.

  2. "Kids say the darndest things." I'm so glad you are writing them down. I forget so fast, if I don't write them down. Too bad Parenting never follows the written script, but your words did. That is powerful on your side. Love ya. MOM
