NyQuil + An Alarm in Another Room + a Door = SHINNER

This is the black-eye I ended up with last night. I had taken NyQuil to break a 2-day migraine (a whole other story). I was sleeping hard. Then I heard Andrea Bocelli blaring at midnight out of Luke's bedroom. All I could think was, "I must turn that off before one of the kids wakes up."
In my tipsy-turvy state, I rushed toward the door thinking it was closed--then WHACK! I ran right into the side of the door. It was not closed but slightly open. I yelped as my body bounced off the door as I grabbed my eye, my back landing on the light switches. My back pushed on the bedroom light and fan. "Great," I thought, "I was trying to avoid waking up the kids and now I am waking up Ryan!" Ryan stirred to say, "Are you okay?" (which he doesn't remember this morning.)

"I hit my eye on the door," I wailed. My task, however, was not complete. I NEEDED to get that Bocelli tenor OFF. I turned the lights off in our bedroom, cautiously continued to the alarm in Luke's bedroom and turned it off.

When I woke up with this at 4:30 a.m. to help Ryan with the paper route. It looked "okay" at 4:30. This pictures was taken at 8 a.m. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

In the words of a dear friend who once had her own black-eye, "This is NOT cute."

  3. Ouch! Such a great mom, that you didn't make Ryan get you ice, and you even turned off the alarm, after all that. Isn't that what we do as moms? I've had a couple of Nyquil-induced nights, where I tipsily try to get to Annalisa when she needs to eat. Sheesh. what we do for our kids.

  4. Oh, this is not fun. The same thing happened to me one time with middle of the night kids, but it was my foot and Dean's breifcase in the middle of the room. Ouch! I am feeling for ya.

  5. One day you will laugh about it. But not for now. I do feel for you. Try to take more potent medication so that you just don't hear a thing.
