Sunday Drive

Ryan got a job working some HEAVY labor. I'm talking about moving 1 TON of aluminium in an hour. He's been exhausted and grumpy (we have a new sympathy for immigrants, migrants and undocumented people in the US).

When I was a kid, my parents would take us on "Sunday Drives" to go hiking and spend time in nature. With the pressures of the work and life, we decided we needed to take a Sunday Drive and see something new. So, we decided we needed to enjoy the country for some relief.

We drove for an hour and a half.

We drove from Hamilton to the east side of the island. Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are beautiful!

(Yes, that is a bat woman mask.)

The locals kept telling us the east side of the island was cleaner. It is. Not sure what's going on in the Tasman Sea, but the sand is black and the water is a different color. On the Pacific side of the island, the water is gorgeous! The sand was "silver" or tan. We saw a few crabs too.

This area is called the Bay of Plenty. It's truly beautiful and they grow an considerable amount of produce. I'm excited to see some whales, when it's whale-watching time!

  1. Thanks for the update with pictures! You could really get to love the ocean in these photos. I'm so glad you got some Halloween fun. That is really a cool Ninja face on Eric. Suzanne is going to be a great cook. Those look better than the ones I've made. Wow! I'm so sorry Ryan is not working something easier. I hope he is careful with his back. There is no pain like back pain -- leg pain -- hip pain. We are thinking, praying, loving every word and picture of you. Happy days to you in New Zealand and your degree efforts. Love, Mom and Dad

  2. Those are beautiful pictures for your Sunday drive. I want to go to the coast and just walk the beach and listen to waves. It looks like a great place to explore and enjoy.
